Swindon Borough Council hosted the Big Bark Dog Festival at Lydiard Park, attracting dog lovers and families from across the region on 9 June. The festival aimed to celebrate canine companions and promote responsible dog ownership through a range of interactive events and demonstrations.

The event featured a fun dog show, agility and flyball demonstrations, and more than 40 stalls offering pet products, local crafts, and refreshments. Organisers expected thousands to attend, with proceeds supporting local animal charities. Councillor Matty Courtliff, Cabinet Member for Culture, Art and Heritage, said, "The Big Bark is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our four-legged friends."

Additional attractions included a dog-friendly café, children’s activities, and expert talks on pet care. The festival also provided microchipping services and advice from local veterinarians. Swindon Borough Council worked with local businesses and charities to deliver the event, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement and animal welfare.

The success of the Big Bark Dog Festival highlighted the popularity of pet-friendly events in Swindon, with organisers considering making it an annual fixture. The Council encouraged feedback from attendees to help shape future festivals and community initiatives.
